Cook

15 mins chilling

Ingredients

Main ingredients

• 12 soft pitted Medjool dates
• 1 cup black sesame butter
• 3 tsp black cumin powder or any herbal powder
• Pinch of salt
• 200 g dark chocolate, melted

To finish

• Multi-coloured sesame seeds
• Tiny pinch of flaky salt

Method

1. Add the dates, black sesame butter, black cumin powder and salt to a food processor. Blitz until a thick, sticky paste forms.
2. Lightly oil your hands, then roll into small truffle-sized balls.
3. Place on a tray and freeze for 15 minutes while you melt the dark chocolate.
4. Melt the chocolate using a bain-marie or in short microwave bursts, stirring until smooth.
5. Dip each chilled truffle in chocolate and place onto a parchment-lined tray.
6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and a tiny pinch of flaky salt before the chocolate sets.
7. Return to the freezer until firm, then store in a sealed container in the freezer.

Good For You Note

These truffles are naturally sweetened with dates and paired with fats from black sesame butter, which can help with steadier energy compared with refined desserts. Black sesame also contributes minerals such as iron and calcium.
